Baby Shower Planning Made Easy
Baby showers are very special occasions. Planning a baby shower can be a lot of fun but it can also create copious amounts of stress. Throwing a baby shower can become complicated quickly and you may be faced with one problem after another. A great way to get your party planning done with minimal stress is to follow a proven checklist. We put together an easy to follow checklist to help make your party planning a piece of cake!
Baby Shower Checklist
One to two months prior to the baby shower:
- Communicate with important guests to decide on the date and time of the party.
- Pick a location for the party. If you plan on having it at a restaurant or other public place, verify the date is open and make reservations.
- Plan the guest list - make sure to check with the expecting mama to verify everyone is on the list.
- Choose a party theme.
- Plan games and party activities.
- Decide what type of food you will serve.
- Choose the invitations.
Two to three weeks prior to the party:
- Mail or distribute invitations (Don’t forget to include directions and phone number).
- Order the baby shower cake.
- Buy baby shower favors, items needed for games, decorations and a table center piece, and prizes.
- Complete the menu.
One week prior to the party:
Rent or buy dishes, utensils, chairs, tables, etc.
Finalize the guest count.
Place orders for food if necessary.
Confirm restaurant reservations if necessary.
Purchase film for camera or make sure your digital camera/camcorder is in working order.
Purchase your gift for the expecting mama.
One day before the party:
- Start decorating.
- Setup tables, chairs, etc.
- Wrap prizes and baby shower favors.
- Review planned activities and games.
- Buy beverages and ice.
- Make a decorative street sign so guests can find the party easily.
Day of the baby shower:
- Finish decorating.
- Set out baby shower favors.
- Pickup food and cake.
- Set up beverages, ice, plates, utensils, etc.
- Prepare a gift table. Have a trash bag handy for wrapping paper.
- Make sure to have a notebook and pen handy to write down the gifts received.
